Making Meyer Moves!

Rebecca Meyer / NJ, Hackettstown

We’ve always considered our home a safe place. A safe place for our family. A safe place for others.

But it’s time for a new home.

January 2019, Rich was let go from Liebenzell — which means, on April 18th, we must give our home back to Liebenzell.

While the ministries we’ve served always provided housing, our salary never allowed us to purchase a home, or save much for a downpayment.

But we want to buy our first home — and we’d love your help.

Rich and I made our first home in the suburbs of New York in 1992 — where Rich served at Children’s Bible Fellowship as the director of two camps, one for handicap individuals and one for at-risk children.

The ministry provided the housing, and we provided the hospitality — opening our doors to everyone and anyone who crossed our paths. We shared meals weekly with staff, mentees, friends, elderly, and students.

Our guests came from near and far. Our children will never forget our Indian friend who ate with his hands. The elderly couple from our town who talked slowly. The disadvantaged children from the Bronx who slept on our couches. Or the college students who crashed at our place because they were rejected by their own families.

When left Children’s Bible Fellowship in 2014, we moved our family into a trailer home. Cooking in the miniature kitchen and sitting around a fold-out table humbled us — but we continued to entertain, and welcome others.

From a trailer home to a second floor walk-up, we began working and living at Shiloh Retreat Center. It was a tight space, but we made it home and focused on opening it up to college students and church groups.

In 2014, we moved to Liebenzell Retreat Center, where we focused on reaching multicultural churches and sending missionaries abroad.

We shared our dinner table with people from 5 continents. Hosted dozens of our childrens’ college friends. And opened our doors for many church gatherings.

It’s time for another move.

Rich has decided to broaden his job search beyond ministry in order to allow our two youngest boys to finish growing up in the same geographical area — moving multiple times has taxed our boys.

We’ve saved $10,000 for our new home and would love your help reaching a 20% downpayment.

We view our home as a gift to bless others with. Becky always maintains a kitchen full of goodies. Our closet is always full of games. Music is always playing.

While it’s hard waiting to see what God has in store for us, we know wherever we end up, we will make it a safe place for our family. A safe place for others. We will make it home.

Please consider a financial gift and help us make a Meyer move :)
